WINNER 2015 – Master Builders NSW - The Southern Belle is more a reflection of our client than the architectural style of the home.
It's Hamptons all the way and so hot right now. Although she's a self-confessed Aussie Gal now, Anna originally hails from Charleston, USA and wanted to bring a little bit of her homeland into her family home. With husband John and boys Grayson and Kai, all typical Bronzed Aussie Surfers, Anna has stamped her mark on their home.
Well researched and a client with a clear direction, Anna was a pleasure to build for. Heavily involved and on first name basis with all Sanctuary 28 trades she was quickly nicknamed 2 IC.
With a strict budget, involving a builder in the design process was a must to ensure her vision could be realized. Externally weatherboards in soft grey and windows and timber trimming in white, the Hamptons Style was evident. Colonial bars to windows and doors stayed true to the style.
Internally high skirt and wide architraves obviously in white gloss continue the Hamptons look, raking VJ ceilings adds volume to the home. The kitchen is central to the family home, the heart and soul, recycled white washed red brick adds texture and warmth and from here Anna can watch the boys in the pool or powering on the skate ramp in the backyard.
As in all Sanctuary 28 homes passive solar design is well considered. The entertainment area opens up to the north of the living area and with plenty of glass on this elevation the home is cool in summer and warm in winter.
The first floor is accessed via American Oak treads highlighted by gloss white risers and timber balustrading. You arrive to a second living area which her two young sons have claimed outside of their bedrooms. The main bedroom is private with double doors concealing a spacious bedroom that captures views to Mt Warning. An open style ensuite and walk in robe add to the parents retreat.
For Sanctuary 28 repeat business is the highest praise and being able to assist Anna and John build their first home then up-grade into their second home was very satisfying.
